Closure of School Crossing

Published: 24 June 2019

There has recently been a number of near misses involving members of the public using this crossing the most recent 8 June 2019 involving an elderly lady who narrowly avoided being hit by the approaching train.  A decision was made by Milton Keynes Council to issue a closure notice after Network Rail applied for this as an Emergency Closure.  The temporary closure has now been extended for a further 3 weeks.  However, if at the end of the 21 days the crossing is still closed then the closure may continue under the provisions of an Order made under Section 14 (1) of the above act, for a maximum period of 18 months, if necessary.  Please note Milton Keynes Council are not responsible for the closing of the crossing and are urgently discussing with Network Rail what other provisions can be put in place in order to resolve this matter but only when it is safe to do so.
