Post Title: Weekend Caretaker

Responsible to: The Town Clerk

Hours of Work: Variable hours

Pay Scale: £105 per weekend and additional paid hours when providing holiday cover during the week

Purpose of Post: To be available at weekends throughout the year as a point of contact for hirers and to check the building following bookings

Overview of The Role:

Applications are invited for the part-time post of Weekend Caretaker for Woburn Sands Town Council. The successful applicant will be available most at weekends throughout the year to greet hall hirers if as necessary, to show them the facilities and use of equipment if needed, and to check that the halls are left in a reasonable condition following a hiring.

The successful applicant will be the first point of call for hall hirers at the weekend in an emergency; for this reason the successful applicant will need to reside within Woburn Sands or in the immediate area. Hours for this position will vary, but could will include both evening and day time work.

This job has a physical element as it might occasionally be necessary to put away furniture, tables and chairs, left out by hirers or put up sports equipment and put away after use. Applicants will need to have a reasonable standard of physical fitness to enable them to carry out the duties needed.

The hours are flexible, the successful applicant will have to be available at on at weekends when there are bookings. The time spent at the halls will depend on the number and nature of the bookings on any particular weekend.

The successful applicant will also be expected to provide a basic level of holiday and sickness cover to other caretaking staff when necessary.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Overall responsibility for locking and unlocking halls and venues managed by Woburn Sands Town Council at weekends

· To be a key holder and provide emergency call out at weekends

· To check the condition of the halls following bookings at weekends

· To show hirers around the halls and how to use the facilities and equipment at weekends

· To provide basic holiday and sickness cover for other staff in similar roles during weekdays as and when necessary

· Any other duties to support the Clerk and Bookings Manager in the general upkeep of the halls and the good presentation of the town as required
